I am getting toward the end of my military career, I was trying to figure out what to do next. A co-worker of mine is a full time RVer and was struggling to find a technician to do some repairs. After hiring the technician and talking to him a bit, she found out he went to the National RV Training Academy (NRVTA) in Athens, TX. She told me about it, I did some research and the next thing I knew I was saving up for classes. I completed: RV Fundamentals, RV Water Heaters & Furnaces, RV Absorption Refrigerators, RV Air Conditioners & Heat Pumps and RV Exteriors.
I then passed the test to become a Certified RV Technician.

While I was at NRVTA I attended a lecture at the Texan RV Park about RV holding tanks by Sue Rasmussen, of Royal Flush RV. It was topic I didn't know much about, but I wanted to learn more. I learned you can get some nasty things in your black and gray tanks if you don't take care of them properly.

I ended up coming back to the NRVTA for the Solar Course and the Generator Course. After that I became the "intern" at a family owned RV repair facility to get some real world hands on experience. It was definitely an eye opening experience and I learned a lot. I enjoyed everything I was doing, but felt as if I hadn't found my "niche" yet. I remembered the lecture I had from Sue, I looked up her website and found out she offered a training course for cleaning RV holding tanks. I reached out to her, found out the details, signed up and completed the course.

Until I retire I will still be the intern in addition to working part time in NJ cleaning RV tanks and taking care of other maintenance issues. Once I retire in 2025 I will be working full time, primarily in TN, NC and one week a month in NJ. If I can be of assistance, you can contact me at
